Senior Slashed In Leg At Burnaby,British Columbia's Metrotown Station: Police

Police say a 70-year-old woman was slashed in the leg at Metrotown SkyTrain station in Burnaby, B.C., on Friday.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police say that, just before noon PT on Friday, a fight broke out among three people at the SkyTrain station.

The senior, who wasn't involved in the dispute, was slashed in the leg with an "edged weapon", according to police.

Const. Amanda Steed said the three people — who are aged 37, 38 and 45 — involved in the fight fled, but were later arrested by police.

wo men and a woman were involved in the fight, and police say they also found two discarded weapons nearby.

"The victim was treated by B.C. Emergency Health Services here on scene and transported to hospital," Steed said Friday evening at Metrotown.

"All suspects remain in custody and charges of assault causing bodily harm are being considered."

Steed said that the one of the suspects was found inside the Metropolis at Metrotown mall, and was arrested with the help of security guards there.

The two others were found at the SkyTrain station platform, Steed said, adding that the victim has since been discharged from hospital.

"Now her physical injuries will heal, but something like this is quite traumatizing," the officer added.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the alleged assault, including those who have cellphone video, to contact then.
