Mother, Infant Killed By Falling Tree On Vancouver Island

RCMP say a 26-year-old woman and her five-month-old child have both been killed by a falling tree on Vancouver Island.

The incident happened shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cumberland Lake Park Campground on Comox Lake, which includes a public beach and picnic area.

B.C. Emergency Health Services said three ambulances responded and one patient was treated, then taken to hospital in serious condition.The investigation is now being handled by Comox Valley RCMP and the B.C. Coroner's Service.
