Guilty Plea In Fatal 2022 Surrey Shooting Of White Rock Resident

Swift News

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is taking some credit for a guilty plea in the case of a fatal shooting in South Surrey more than three years ago.

White Rock resident David Goldstein, 33, was shot in the early hours of April 6, 2022, at a home in the Peninsula Village area, 24 Avenue and 152A Street. He died in hospital two days later.

In November 2023, following what IHIT calls "a lengthy and extensive investigation," the BC Prosecution Service approved one count of first-degree murder against Bryce Dallas Campbell.

On Thursday (Oct. 9), Campbell, now 28, appeared in B.C. Supreme Court where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter, IHIT announced.

"Securing this conviction against Mr. Campbell was made possible by the specialized resources at IHIT, the persistence shown by the investigators, and our ability to work with our partner agencies,” IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong said in a news release.

"It is our hope that today’s proceedings will help the victim’s family in their healing journey. We are grateful for their trust and support throughout this investigation."

At the time of the first-degree murder charge in 2023, Campbell was in custody in connection to another incident in which two people were killed and another injured in a shooting at South Surrey Athletic Park in July 2022.
