Police Investigate Second Fatal Pedestrian Collision In Surrey

Swift News

A 45-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning (Feb. 12) in Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood.  Police responded to a call around 7:33 a.m. about a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle in the 10400 block of 132 Street.  “Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian, a 45-year-old female, sadly succumbed to her injuries,” noted a Surrey Police news release Thursday (Feb. 12).

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.  Surrey Police have closed the 10400 block of 132 Street to investigate and expect it to be closed for several hours.  SPS’s Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) is investigating the collision and does not believe that impairment was a “contributing factor,” although the investigation is still in its early stages.  Anyone with information about the collision, or who may be in possession of dashcam footage, is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-14286 (SP).  This is the second fatal pedestrian collision in Surrey in 24 hours.
