Two men have been arrested following an overnight shots-fired incident Thursday (Oct. 30) that police believe was extortion-related. According to a Surrey Police Service news release, officers responded to a home in the 1400 block of Ridge Crescent, near 56 Avenue and King George Boulevard, at around 2 a.m., after receiving calls of possible shots fired. On arrival, officers confirmed gun-shot damage to the exterior of the residence, and that several people were inside the home at the time.
No injuries were reported. Police say a suspect vehicle was located a short distance away, and two men were taken into custody. SPS Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) Team attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation, the release continues. “Based on the initial information, it is believed that this shooting is extortion-related with potential linkages to other investigations,” the release states. “SPS investigators have been liaising with police partners and the investigation is now being led by the BC Extortion Task Force.” Anyone with information about the latest incident, or who may have been in the area of 56 Avenue and King George Boulevard and witnessed the shots fired or suspicious activity, or with CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502.
